Evelyn has completed a multitude of continuing education courses including: • Craniosacral and Visceral mobilization with Upledger Institute • Orthopedic manual therapy at Michigan State University • Sports medicine for the young athlete at Hospital for Special Surgery • Evaluation and management of the TMJ with the International College for Craniofacial and Vertebral Therapeutic Institute • Female pelvic floor function and dysfunction, Male pelvic floor treatment, Pregnancy and postpartum, Bowel Function, plus more coursework with the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. Her interest in pelvic floor dysfunction led her to design and teach for 7 years at two prominent universities, New York University and Stony Brook University in their DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) programs. By teaching the future physical therapists, Evelyn has furthered the awareness of pelvic floor dysfunction to their potential patients and referring physicians. Evelyn was involved with NYU TMJ Clinic for 10 years, working alongside with dentists to help patients return to optimum cervical and jaw function. She regularly reaches out to the community by giving lectures to the dancers with Alvin Ailey Dance Company, to coaches/athletes of some New York sports teams, at health symposiums offered to the general public and she developed a stretching DVD to promote spine flexibility. Evelyn believes in empowering all patients with knowledge, empathy and excellence and looks forward to helping you attain optimum health. Karen is a graduate of the University of Miami and received her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Emory University, where she graduated with honors. She is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and Physical Therapy Association of New York. As part of her doctoral degree, Karen completed clinical rotations treating a variety of orthopedic, acute, and neurological conditions. While earning her degree, she developed an interest in pelvic floor dysfunction and spent a year at a Women’s Health PT practice to observe successful patient treatment. Karen also attended pelvic floor educational courses where she learned soft tissue and nerve mobilizations to assess and treat a variety of pelvic conditions. As a competitive athlete, Karen swam & ran track in high school, injuring both shoulders and knees. Her positive experience with physical therapy prompted her interest in the profession. Karen is able to empathize and motivate patients so they achieve their goals and return function. Elaine is a graduate of Union College in Schenectady, NY with a Bachelor’s degree in both Biology and Psychology. She later received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the prestigious New York University. Elaine worked in the profession for three years treating patients with orthopedic and sport injuries prior to joining EMH Physical Therapy. She consistently attends continuing education courses to more effectively treat joint, soft tissue, and postural dysfunctions. She is currently receiving her certification in the McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment Method, which provides excellence in treating cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine pathologies. She has also completed many continuing education courses in pelvic floor dysfunction, general musculoskeletal pathologies, gait abnormalities and foot pathologies. Elaine’s interest in health and exercise stemmed from her personal experience of physical therapy after sustaining several musculoskeletal injuries. Her passion and belief in effective manual and exercise therapies to restore pain-free function allows her to be a dedicated clinician as well as a steadfast educator. She knows first hand that compliance and commitment to the healing process is the key to full recovery. Elaine is also a certified Power Pilates Basic Mat Instructor and enjoys swimming, pilates, hatha yoga, and salsa/merengue dancing. Staci is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. She later received her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree with honors from Columbia University. Most recently, she became an Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) through the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). This certification provides formal recognition for a physical therapist with advanced clinical knowledge, experience and skills in the area of orthopedics. She is also a member of the APTA’s Orthopedic section. Prior to joining EMH Physical Therapy, Staci worked for three years treating patients of all ages with orthopedic and sports injuries, chronic pain, TMJ disorders and neurologic conditions. She is currently striving to become a Certified Functional Manual Therapist through the Institute of Physical Art, which combines therapy techniques such as Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, soft tissue and joint mobilization, muscle energy techniques and neuromuscular re-education from multiple schools of thought to provide the most functional and efficient approach to treating orthopedic and neurologic diagnoses. Staci completed a number of continuing education courses in manual therapy for the spine and extremities, TMJ pathologies, and pelvic floor dysfunction to ensure she is up to date with the latest evidence-based practices to provide the most individualized, effective care for each patient.
